| Israel targets WSOP 2006 | 29th January, 2006 |
Israel is well known for its high-educated citizens, so what could be better than crowning the best Israeli poker player? The Israeli Poker Association is apparently hosting a series of tournaments that will ultimately send one Israeli representative to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
Over 300 Israeli poker aficionados are expected to participate in the Israel Poker Association's poker league. The tournament series will take place over three months, with 90 of the league's players advancing to the final No-Limit Texas Holdem event. The winner will then get a chance to see how he or she can hold up against the other professionals in the United States at the World Series of Poker Final 2006.
The Israeli population's interest in poker is growing rapidly and is expected to grow to the current rate of the one seen in Europe. For some reason there are a lot of Israeli playing at Pacific Poker, which has become the number one choice due to its super soft competition, which is ranked the softest competition in the world, according to EveryPoker.com. | | | - written by Betty Holden |
