| WPT expands - globally | 14th September, 2005 |
Three years ago, World Poker Tour was founded and televised throughout the United States of America. Now they have their sights set on conquering more markets by starting regional versions in two new countries.
Steve Lipscomb, CEO of WPT Enterprises, was happy to announce an expansion to US neighbour Canada and Asian poker nation Phillipines. The current WPT show airs in a total of 116 nations and a global expansion is expected to bring more attention to the sport - and the TV show.
The information that was presented indicates that each national tour will include four to six tournaments, starting in 2006. Obviously, the layout has not been changed; no-limit Texas Hold'Em will still be the game format of choice.
The announcement does not mention the attendance of Vince Van Patten nor Mike Sexton for the tour that is to take place in Canada and the Philippines. They will, however, attend and comment the grand WPT finals of 2006 in Las Vegas .
You can read more about World Poker Tour over at the official WPT web site. | | | - written by Betty Holden |
